Spring Gate Farm is located on 220 acres in Barboursville, Virginia on the Rapidan River. The farm is one of the largest cashmere producing farms in the East and is home to over 80-100 cashmere goats. We offer a full range of products including, breeding stock, companion/pets, pelts, meat, and fiber. Throughout the year we have farm open houses where we offer the public the ability to see the goats and learn about their care and maintenance. We are a working farm that produces fruits and vegetables, horse quality hay and other farm-related products such as eggs and honey. As careful stewards of the land and we practice sustainable agriculture which protects and preserves the land as well as our animals. The farm lies in one of the most picturesque and beautiful settings in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains just 17 miles north of Charlottesville, VA. We welcome your visit and hope you will fall in love with one of the most beautiful and intelligent of all creatures – the cashmere goat!

We produce 10 acres of seasonal vegetables ranging from summer/winter squash, onions, melons, tomatoes, cucumbers, greens, peppers, pumpkins, gourds, blackberries, raspberries, peaches, eggs, honey, flowers, herbs, etc…
Fruits
We produce peaches, grapes, figs, kiwi’s, blackberries and raspberries for our restaurants and markets.
Eggs
Spring Gate Farm is home to more than 200 chickens of all sizes and types. We have Pearl White Leghorns, Rhode Island Reds, Golden Campines, Salmon Faverolles, Phoenix, Speckled Sussex, Barred Rock, Buff Orpingtons, Buff Rock, Black Australorp, Red Star, and Black Star just to name a few. All our chickens are free-ranged in a pasture with access to fresh water, blue skies, and fresh grass. They have fresh nesting boxes that are changed daily and enjoy the shade of an open-air chicken coop in the summer. Eggs are collected twice daily and are washed and refrigerated immediately.
