About Fields of Athenry Farm
Our philosophy here at the farm: we believe in healthy eating as the first and foremost preventative to many illnesses that are a result of a reliance on convenient and processed foods.
Fields of Athenry – from the ballad describing the beautiful and majestic farms near Gallway Bay, Ireland – is a family-run business in northern Virginia. Fields of Athenry Farm didn’t start out with a “mission,” but we have one today.
In 2003, one of our five daughters developed serious health issues, putting our family and the farm on a journey about the relationship between the foods we eat, and chronic diseases such as allergies, obesity, depression, cancer, Autism, and more. Our healing process put us, not on the traditional path of going vegetarian, but of focusing on “whole foods” grown the way God intended, including hormone- and antibiotic-free meats, raw milk and raw milk cheeses, pesticide-free fruits and vegetables, and nutrient dense cooking stocks.
As our farm business grew we went from a source of healthy foods for family and friends, to a thriving Farm Store and Home Delivery business – and a resource for people looking for both knowledge and ways to feed themselves in a healthy, holistic way.
- Why We Do What We Do: describes my family’s long journey towards a more healthy way of eating.

The Foundations of My Beliefs as a Farmer and Mother:
I personally run our farm operation as a small family business. I am an active supporter and promoter of the Weston A. Price Foundation vision for the benefits of nutrient dense foods, and our urgent need to restore nutrient dense foods to the human diet through education, research and activism. Per Weston A. Price, we support a number of movements that contribute to this objective, including accurate nutrition instruction, organic and biodynamic farming, pasture feeding of livestock, community supported farms, honest and informative labeling, prepared parenting and nurturing therapies. Specific goals include the establishment of universal access to clean, certified raw milk and a ban on the use of soy formula for infants. The Board and membership of the Weston A. Price Foundation stand united in the belief that modern technology should be harnessed as a servant to the wise and nurturing traditions of our ancestors rather than used as a force destructive to the environment and human health; and that science and knowledge can validate those traditions.
